Nun steht sie also, die neue Datenschutzgrundverordnung. Alle Parteien, die Datenschützer und viele Verbraucher-Organisationen jubeln, die Industrie murrt – also kann sie so schlecht nicht sein.

Allerdings hat es 1420 Tage gedauert, bis das „Recht auf Vergessen“, die Portabilität und andere Schutzregeln verankert wurden. Und die Details stehen immer noch aus – dabei steckt dort bekanntlich der Teufel.

Die Experten von EDRI sind denn auch skeptisch. Zitat:

The result is that the overall package is less clear and less protective of personal data than it could – and should – have been. However, compared with the potentially disastrous positions taken by some of the European Parliament’s committees and by the EU Member States in the Council of the European Union “general approach” adopted in June 2015, the outcome is vastly better than it could have been.

Schlechter als erwartet, besser als befürchtet – das ist doch mal ein ausgewogenes Urteil. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass es nicht noch mal 1420 Tage dauert, bis die Reform in Kraft tritt… – Mehr zum Datenschutz hier
